I’ve made a lot of choices in my life (none that I regret) that mean I won’t be traveling any time soon. The great thing about living in the Twin Cities is the multitude of opportunities to get a little taste of other cultures.
The German-American Institute‘s most popular event of the year, Deutsche Tage, is this weekend. This two-day event is filled with food, music, dancing, and fun for all ages. Sunday is geared toward families. However, Saturday looks like the better day for outdoor events. Either way, enjoy German Culture without leaving the Twin Cities.
Saturday, June 9:
- 8am: Lederhosenlauf 5K
- 5-10pm: Sommerparty Under the Tent
- 10pm-12am: After Hours Tanzparty
Sunday, June 10:
- 11am-5pm: Deutscher Tag family-friendly celebration, featuring the German party band Alpensterne
I think afterwards, we will probably come home and make brats on the grill with home-made German potato salad (made ahead of course). If you are feeling ambitious, here is a recipe you can make with the kids, Healthy Homemade German Sausage.
