The Red Balloon Bookshop will host several events for various ages this weekend.
Young Adult Authors Special Event
On Friday at 7:00 p.m., four authors of young adult novels will converge to talk about their most recent books and answer questions. Authors include:
- M. Molly Backes, The Princesses of Iowa
- Julie Halpern, Don’t Stop Now
- James Klise, Love Drugged
- Claire Zulkey, An Off Year
Corduroy Storytime With Kim Faurot
Then on Saturday at 10:30, you and your family can join storyteller Kim Faurot for story time featuring Corduroy by Don Freeman. Corduroy will also stop in for a visit. If you want to have more Corduroy fun you can find worksheets here; and if, like us, you read this story over and over, you can find suggestions for keeping it fresh at Family Education.
Sean Connolly, The Book of Perfectly Perilous Math
Author Sean Connolly will visit on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with his latest book, The Book of Perfectly Perilous Math. In this and his previous book, The Book of Potentially Catastrophic Science, Mr. Connolly uses outlandish but amusing scenarios to get middle school kids to think about how math and science are used in real world situations. This sounds like the book you want to have ready to whip out when your sweet child suggests they will never need these skills in the real world.
