On Saturday, your family can celebrate Earth Day at Tamarack Nature Center by volunteering in the morning and partying in the afternoon.
From 9:00 a.m. to noon, you can provide a happy home for the plants and wildlife living at Tamarack by helping to eliminate litter. This volunteer activity is open to families, but you should wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and work gloves.
Then, from noon to 2:00 p.m. usher in the balmy breezes of spring with an Earth Day celebration. Discover ways to green up with your family. Plant some seeds to get our garden growing and learn about the art of nature photography. You can also get an introduction to astronomy and check out the spring constellations in our Star Lab portable planetarium.
If you want to continue the celebration at home, check out Pepperoni Is Not A Vegetable, a local blog that focuses on eating vegetarian and local. I bet you can find a great recipe your family will enjoy even if you are mostly carnivorous.
