This week, Free Family Fun Day at Carl Kroenig Interpretive Center will be Sunday and Monday and takes a look at Pond Critters. Your family can search for baby insects and tadpoles in the pond and look at pond creatures close up. Drop in anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you want a little more at home, the Minnesota DNR Young Naturalists Site has a Spring To Life Pond article. It comes in full-color PDF format with a teacher’s guide if you want to make a more formal study of pond life. If you did this one last year and want to do something else, The Young Naturalists Site has a couple other related articles, Life in a Jar and The Magic of Morphing.
This could be the perfect time for a very simple family picnic. Peanut butter and jelly with carrot sticks and apple slices would go well with a visit to the park. If you want to make it a little special, Spartanburg Moms has several cute ideas for fancy sandwiches.
