Free Family Fun Day at Carl Kroenig Interpretive Center: Herons

Share

Sunday is Free Family Fun Day at North Mississippi Regional Park’s Carl Kroenig Interpretive Center, and this week is all about Herons.  Your family can learn about Skeows and Swamp Pumpers and which herons live in Minnesota?  Learn about the lives of this unique family of birds. Drop in anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.  If you want to study more about Minnesota cranes, you can start with this Minnesota DNR page.

I couldn’t come up with any recipes to go with this theme, unless you actually want to cook Heron; you can Google that if that appeals to you.  However, I did find some nice picnic recipes on a Disney site.  Sunday Fun Day’s seem like a perfect time to picnic with or without a theme.

If your children really enjoy the Free Family Fundays and you want to encourage their nature exploration, our Amazon store carries a Science on a Nature Walk Kit, which would be fun to bring along on these outings and to use in your own backyard.
