Free Family Fun Day at North Mississippi Regional Park is April Fool’s Camouflage Challenge this week. Drop in anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to Discover the secrets of camouflage and try your skills on our comedy camouflage trail! The Minnesota DNR’s Young Naturalists site has an article to go with this theme.
I’ve actually seen one of those stick caterpillar’s in the picture to the left in my backyard, so this would be a great theme to bring home to your backyard exploration. Pull out your nature walk kit and explore together.
To carry the theme into a family dinner, Family Fun Magazine has a lot of April Fools Day recipes. They are all desserts that look like dinner foods. Since we can’t just serve our kids dessert and expect them to sleep through the night, I suggest you start with this Camouflage Meatloaf Recipe and then choose one of the Family Fun recipes for dessert.
